20 for 2020
If you asked me for my New Year Resolution, it would be to find out who I am.
Cyril Cusack
I listen to a podcast called HAPPIER and the talk about New Year’s resolutions. They do it a bit differently and choose around of resolutions that go with the year. If I wanted to I could change the number. It can be any number but I like doing it with the year. The other choice I thought about doing was doing the age I’ll be turning this year which is 33 but I didn’t want to come up with 33. Maybe I’ll do something else with 33. If you have any ideas let me know.
- 20 Minutes Walks
I don’t do a good job doing any kind of workout and I want to be in better shape. I don’t want to pay for a gym membership I won’t use so walking seems like a good way to start.
2. Buy new Sneakers
I bought a fun pair early last year but I wear them a lot so they are starting to look a bit worn out. I saw an advertisement for a pair of Adidas where they used plastic pulled out of the ocean to use it in the shoe. I don’t think the shoe was made fully out of the plastic but I love the effort. I looked up the shoes and they don’t have anything I love and it’s out of my price range.
3. Drink More Water
In 2019 I’ve been drinking way to much sugary drinks. I want to cut it all out and drink so much more water.
4. Eating Keto
I’ve eaten this way before but I didn’t last that long because I ran out of food that I was willing to eat. My mom has given me a cook book that I still need to go through and find recipes that I want to try. She has given me other tips that I’m going to use and I’m grateful for her support.
5. Read through the Bible in a Year
I’ve read the Bible in a year before but it’s been a couple of years. My mom did it this year and there is a podcast she listens after she does the reading. She’s planning on doing it so it will be nice to do it along side other people.
6. Read 6 Books
I haven’t read many physical books in the last couple of years and I would love to change that. I thought about reading 12, one for ever month but I’m not that fast of a reader. I thought 6 would be a challenge but not overwhelming.
7. Buy New winter gloves
I have a pair that is starting becoming hole-y. What I like about his pair is that I can use a touch screen without having to take them off. I will look into finding a pair that are similar. What I don’t like is that they are thin so my hands get cold quickly.
8. See a Live Show
I love seeing live shows. I would love to see one this year. Last year I thought I would see one a month for but I don’t didn’t have the time or money for that. Seeing one is doable since I’ve been able to do that for the last two years.
9. Learn a new Language
I had this one on my list last year but I didn’t make it a priority. I would love to make it a priority this year and try to learn to say a couple of phrases and be able to have a basic conversation down. I’m leaning towards Spanish right now.
10. Learn Photoshop
I know very little of how to use photoshop. I just never really learned how to use it. I plan on changing that year and using Youtube videos and sites like lynda.com to figure out what I can do. I want to expand my creativity with this.
11. Learn Movie editing program
I use iMovie right now to make the videos I make. I want to either learn how to use iMovie better or use another editing program. Just like with photoshop I want to be able to expand my creativity.
12. Make more videos
I haven’t made a whole lot videos this year. I would like to be a little more creative with the videos I make and be more consistent. I’m going to shoot for once or twice a month. I’m hoping for twice but I’m not sure if I’m up for that. It makes me tired just thinking of it.
13. Self Care
I’m good at resting but not the kind of resting that charges me up. I find when I watch shows that make me want to be creative or I truly enjoy. I want to learn to get rest that gives me energy and that isn’t just vegging out.
14. 2 times a month in nature
I haven’t spent enough time in nature. . . for me. I absolutely LOVE being in the great outdoors. I get filled up with all of the good stuff. I find that I get drained when I don’t get enough time outside.
15. Go on a Adventure a month
I love going new places and trying new things. I’m hoping to plan something new every month to try. I’m going to push myself with some of them. I will document with my go pro. In full disclosure I haven’t planned any of them yet. If you have any ideas, please pass them along.
16. Journal
I process what I’m feeling best when I write. It helps me work out and let go of whatever i’m struggling with. I want to write on the daily basis but I would settle for every other day.
17. Figure out to reduce my waste
I’ve wanted to reduce waste my footprint for a while and I just haven’t pulled the trigger on it. I haven’t done it because I get overwhelmed by everything I want to change. I’m going to start making small changes like stop using plastic bags and plastic bottles.
18. Start drawing
I have a lined notebook and colored pencils to start with. It’s been something I’ve been thinking about doing for a while but I thought I needed a fancy notebook and pencils. I’ve decided to see what I had to work with and see if I keep up with it. I decided if keep up with it I will upgrade to better pencils notebook without lines.
19. Blog more consistently
I had this on my list last year but I didn’t have a plan to execute this. I have a list of Tuesdays and Thursday for the whole year. I have January to August planned out. I think having it planed out will help me know when and what to execute. Not know what to write made me put it off and being overwhelmed with the possibilities made me procreate.
20. Diversify my income.
I would like to be able to have multiple streams of income so I’m just relying on just one.
