Review of Canon EF 24-70 mm f/4 L
I have a new favorite lens that sadly isn’t mine. I rented a Canon EF 24-70 mm f/4 from Borrowed Lens (I’m not sponsored by them). I love this lens and I’m going to nerd out about why.
I used it a lot for cooking blogs that I made the last couple of days. it was nice to use it to get wider shots and then leave it where it was set up and just zoom in to get more of what I was doing. I live near a dam/waterfall and I used this lens to see what I get. I like that I could get shots from a wide-angle and get up-close shots. It’s been fun to figure out what shots I can do with this lens and I’ve had a chance to do water droplets. I haven’t done water droplets photos in a while and it’s been fun to play around with it.
My sister had a birthday during this pandemic and we had a social distancing dinner in her backward and I brought my camera along with me. I got to photograph her kids doing what kids do. It was fun photographing them and trying the lens with moving subjects. I really liked how they turned and I was able to get cute shots without the kids really noticing me which helps with getting authentic not staged shots. I also tested it on myself and was able to get a couple of shots I really like of myself and one of them became my profile picture.
The only think I really don’t like about it is that it can sometimes get a dark color around the edges. I’ve been able to edit it or crop it out but it would be nice to have to navigate around and the zoom is the opposite than my other lens that zoom. Those are my only major complaints about the lens. I have add a bunch of the photos I’ve taken with the lens and would love to know which is your favorite.
