I’m starting a band!!

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.

One of the techniques I’ve been wanting to learn how to do for a while is how to get multiple of one person in a photo. I’ve seen it before and thought I wound’t ever be able to do. I didn’t think I would ever be good at editing that they wouldn’t ever turn out. I think that is a big reason I didn’t put effort into learning how to edit photos other than cropping before. I had it a wall almost 2 years ago in what I thought I could do in camera and decided to see what I could do and I’m grateful I did.

I can’t remember the first one of these I saw but I remember thinking one day I wanted to learn how to do it. I haven’t thought about it a while and just been plugging along with life. With having extra time on my hands with this pandemic going on I decided to create everyday and I decided to learn along the way. I had started looking up things to photograph at the beginning of staying home and then came across the multiples in a photo and was reminded that I should try to do it sense my editing had improved and I had time to try to tackle it. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t has hard as I thought it would.

I went on a social distancing walk with my mom and one of her friends near the church my dad pastors at. A benefit of being the daughter of a paster of a small church is that you get keys to the church when no one else is there. Others might think of having a gathering of sorts but I find it appropriate to photograph myself in the pews. A couple of them look like they could end up as album covers and others just show off my overall goofiness. In case you were inquiring my band are yodelers and we are named the Yoda’s Yodeler’s. The fact I can’t yodel will not stop me from pursuing my dream.

I watched one video on how do create these and couldn’t figure out what they guy was doing. I had a moment of thinking maybe I was right all of those years ago and I didn’t have it in me to do it. I decided to keep trying and watch another video to see if I could figure it out. This was my big project of the day so I didn’t have much else going on. Thankfully the second video was easier to understand and I was off to the races. I got better with each photo I put together and if you zoom in you can see some of them are a little rough. I got it down to where they don’t look quite as rough. I imagine I will get better with more practice. I’m excited to figure out how else to use my new found skill.
