February was the month of self portraits. I did it on three different occasions. I don't generally like being in from of the camera but did it this month because I wanted more photos of me. Most photographers find that they have plenty of photos of others but very few of them. Most photographers hate being in front of the camera. I know for me it's about control, if you boil down most answers of photographers it will have to do with lack of control. I only tend to enjoy the photos I'm did take plenty of other photos but it was a lot of me. Which now looking back looks like I'm really into myself which if you know me well enough you would know differently.
My favorite shoot just happened to be one of the last one I did at the Garfield Park Conservatory. I normally go in with an idea of where I'm going to go and how long I'm going to spend at a location but this time I didn't. I did a lot of wandering around and just let myself enjoy the process. I didn't try to restrain myself too much. It was the most fun I have had in a while. I'm going to try to do more of just letting the session flow and less trying to control when and what is going to happen. I found that I got a ton more shots that I love. I have found the less I try to control the more I get shots that I didn't know I was capable of. Heres to just letting myself see what I'm capable of.
